Default Seperate Inboxes for different types of messages?

Please Login to Remove!

I have not used a Blackberry for a while but the inbox annoyed me a bit when I did have one. All messages, SMS, email, and PINs all go into the same message list. Is there an option to have these go into seperate message lists so I don't have to scroll through 20 emails to get to my last SMS message? How about when I have two email accounts on the phone? I don't want both getting mixed with one another so cna I view and operate each account seperately?

This is one main reason I went back to Window Mobile. I like the seperation of messaging accounts. Even Palm does this properly.

Have things changed on the Blackberry to allow this yet?

There are themes that allow this but nothing on the Blackberry itself, as far as I can tell. The theme is one by Vodaphone and it's not without some minor bugs, but it does show separate lists of messages.

I am using BIS 2.0 right now with my BlackBerry. I have 5 different boxes for my messages.

Mailbox 1: General mailbox
Mailbox 2: BlackBerry Email Account
Mailbox 3: Business Email
Mailbox 4: Personal Email
Mailbox 5: SMS/MMS Messages

I prefer BIS 2.0 because it allows me to have seperate mailboxes for each account.

Sorry, this is still the default behavior with the messages folder on the BB. It is still a "catch all" like you have noticed.

You can do this with "custom searches" on your messages folder. There is already a search defined for SMS messages. Hold down ALT (half moon) and press S. That will display only SMS messages!

I also have custom searches defined for BES-messages. The BIS messages already go to a separate place on the homescreen, so I don't need searches defined for those.

Don't like this workaround? Send a message to these guys and complaint about it!

Hi Nitty,

Can you tell me how you created a separate inbox for only business emails? Like Pinhead, I'm not wild about mixing my messages in the same inbox, but the General Inbox does just that. Currently I have my biz email account w/BES and I just set up my Gmail account, too. My general inbox gets emails to both accounts, while the gmail inbox just gets my gmail. I'd LOVE to have an inbox dedicated to work emails, so if you can tell me how to set that up, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Tlek

There's not a way to do it. The "Messages" box will still be a "catch all" that has all your e-mails. If you're using a BES, there's no way to have a separate box with JUST those e-mails.

On BIS 2.0 each email account set up gets its own BB inbox as well as a catch all mailbox with all messages.
