Is there a simple blackberry that only offers phone and contacts/calendar synching with outlook. No need for internet or live email. does this exist?

Any BlackBerry is able to perform this function. You will want to purchase the BlackBerry without a data plan and then use BlackBerry Desktop Manager to sync via USB to Outlook calendar and Contacts.

Hi,
Is it possible to also synchronise email without a data plan ? What I would like to do is use the USB connection to get the list of phone calls that are shown as messages in the Blackberry's inbox.

Nope. You need the data plan for... well, data... which includes email and internet access. Email doesn't sync. I'm not sure if there is another way to pull the call log or not.

Hell, a SonyEricsson phone (like the Z520a or z520i - or similar) has a SonyEricsson application that will synchronize the contacts and calendar of the phone with MS Outlook 2003 (and probably earlier versions). you wouldn't necessarily need a BlackBerry for that. Many other phones can do this now, too.

Ansynchronous email synchronizing? Why bother? I can't see that attraction of that, but you could do it with Desktop manager. If you're going to read email that old after synch'ing with a computer, why not just read it on the computer in the first place? Those will be older emails anyway. If it's that important to read emails, surely you'd pony up for a plan that does it OTA (over the air)??!? This is so 1997.

Thanks for the replies, as I mentioned the stuff I wanted to get was the messages that are generated in the handheld (the call history details) - I figured it would help me when I do my timesheets

I couldnt see anyway to get it using the desktop manager, it only seems to want to synchronise contacts etc... even selecting to synch mail (pretending to have desktop redirector) - doesnt actually synch it. I suspect because I never got the confirmation messages from the provider.

thanks again

JT
