why is it that some messages show read and some show unread when they are opened in outlook? for example, if i am spending a good portion of time at my desk and reading emails from there, some of the messages that i will open with outlook will show read on the bb, but some will show unread. and i know for a fact that the ones that show unread were opened from my desktop.

its really not that big of a deal. i just a little curious as to why.

ok, i'm gonna go a little further with it now...how come some messages do not get delivered to the blackberry but some do. i dont have any filters for the blackberry set up. is this because of some of the rules that i have set up in outlook for messages to be delivered to certain folders? the only thing with that is....all my rules are set up the same. if message comes from John Doe, put it in John Doe folder. If message comes from Jane Doe, put it in Jane Doe folder. some messages arrive to my phone and others dont.

i know theres a bazillion and two smart people on this forum. does anybody have any clues? i 'm not necessarily looking for a resolution, just some closure would be nice.

oh yeah...all of our users are on a bes if that helps any.

Do you leave Outlook running all the time? If so, when you have those messages dropping into personal folders like that sometimes the message drops to the personal folder, is removed from the mailbox all before the BES can get hold of it and send it out. At least that's how it was explained to me by our BES admin. Your BES admin guy should be able to help you with setup (or removal) of your personal folders so that doesn't happen.

Assuming BES, by default only the Inbox and Sent folder are monitored. Emails that are delivered to other folders will not be delivered to your BB unless you enable it.

You can do this on your BlackBerry. Go to Messages --> (Click the scroll wheel) --> Options --> Email Settings --> (Click the scroll wheel) and select Folder Redirection. Hit [Space] to expand any lines with (+), and put a checkmark next to any folder you want monitored by hitting [Space] (or uncheck by hitting [Space]).

This can also be done through Desktop Manager or by your BES administrator.
