Default Help! BES being rebooted quite frequently

Please Login to Remove!

Hello Everybody,

I need your help. Before going futher, our BES has 4.0 operating system and we are using Exchange.

Before we bought our own server(we used to share server) and upgraded the OS, we used to reboot the old server quite frequently. This got resolve after we upgraded both hardware and software in April 2006. However, more than a year later, we are rebooting the server more than twice(quite frequently again) every month these past three months. To explain further below are the things that have happened since the upgrade.

1. We upgraded 6750s software to 4.0
2. Slowly upgraded handheld device to 7250 about 10 bb users still have 6750 up to now. We have small numbers of 7290 and 7230. Some of these 7250 have 4.0 software but now mostly have 4.1. When I activated these new blackberries which either have 4.0 and 4.1, I would get this message on the handheld "Address Book:Some of the database failed to synchronized" on some of them. I have been ignoring the message since I don't see any negative result on the handheld.
3. Starting 4 months ago, I have to activate some of the blackberry(upgrade) twice before it can successfully activated.

Our network administrator suggested that we should upgrade our BES' software to resolve frequent rebooting on the server because they said that that 4.1 is more robust than 4.0. They added maybe the other reason we have to reboot the server more frequently because our blackberries have two different software.

However, my boss is reluctant to spend since there's no gurantee that after upgrading our BES software will resolve our problem. I understand his reluctance since no one has contacted RIM yet as to how to resolve the problem.

While waiting for our network administrator to contact RIM, I am asking for your help. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
PhRMA newbie

I can tell you that your problem has nothing to do with device software nor the devices themselves

Chris-

Thank you for replying. My assumption is the same. What do you suggest though, should we upgrade our BES' software to 4.1 and why should we?

Thanks again.

I would make sure you have the latest service packs for your existing version if you don't upgrade to v4.1.

We already have the service pack 1, and I believe this is the latest service pack out there.
