I thought that I read something about this at one point but I did a search with no luck.

Has anyone ever had any luck painting thier BB's a different color? I have a BB 7280 that is of course Blue in color and I would like to paint it Black. Just wanted to check if anyone had ever attempted this before.

I pulled the silver frame around the screen off and all the silver logos. It looks very nice...very Darth Vaderish...IMHO.

I saw SkinIt exhibiting at CTIA this week. The company offers colorful skins for mobile devices, including the Blackberry. I haven't tried the skins so I can't vouch for their quality or durability.

According to thier FAQ material is suppose to last 4 years....while I'd suspect that as marketing fluff. It sounds like they may last quite a while. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone that's ordered these too.

I didn't see any examples of the 7100 with a skin on it and I'm having trouble picturing it in my head. I'd like to see how it looks if someone has one and can post pictures. Maybe this will make me less jealous of the 7100x.

What color did you paint the BB then and was it hard to do? What kind of paint did you use? I was thinking of some gloss model paint maybe and then some clearcoat.

I submitted a request for a picture on thier website as I'm having a hard time figuring it out myself.

I painted an old 5810 (no better use for it than to experiment) in Pearl. Looks really good. Just went to my local Home Hardware and picked up a kit (3 cans of paint) that can be used for just about anything. HOWEVER, I have found that after holding the BlackBerry for extended periods of time, the clearcoat top get's tacky. You will want to find a good clear coat that can be handled and not become tacky.

There is a company in California called Phoenix Imaging. They can customize any hard surface to whatever design you want, carbon fiber, aluminum,wood,chrome etc. I have used them for interior dash parts for my truck. I am sure they could do the outer case of the Blackberry. They custom apply a permenant coating using hydrographics like the fake wood dash or Carbon Fiber bezels in cars.www.phoenix-image.com
