Exclamation BLACKBERRY 7100 Registration

Please Login to Remove!

About to buy a 7100 series but the owner states:
A few things about the handset - It has not been registered with Blackberry and when i had checked the IMEI number with Vodaphone they claimed it is simlocked to Sweden.

You have to contact Vodaphone in Sweden to get this unlocked and registered etc. I do not have the time - If you put a Vodaphone sim card in it it will come up with Invalid SIM and will not allow you to use the functionality or make any calls etc because it needs registering with Rim/Blackberry & Via a Vodaphone dealer (Sweden).

I do not know much about the Blackberry system so am unable to tell you the processes in getting this registered or unlocked.
Is this the case? Is it necessary to register the device with RIM/BLACKBERRY? Or can I just get it sim unlocked?

From what I understand, if the device really is not registered with RIM then you can't get any a web client account, which pretty much screws you if you're not on a BES. I'm not exactly clear on what the seller is saying also with his statement that you need to call Vodaphone to get the phone unlocked, BUT a Vodaphone SIM will not work in it. That doesn't make any sense. If it is not locked to Vodaphone (which is the implication when he says that a Vodaphone SIM will not work in it), then they will NOT be able to supply the unlock code.

What is this, an eBay seller? This sounds fishy and too complicated. I'd move on and look for another deal.
