Well first you need to determine if it is the BB (boss) or the computer system problem.
Step 1 - Connect Boss BB to the computer,
Step 2 - launch the Desktop Manager, under Options->Connection Settings
Step 3 - Click Detect to see if the Desktop Manager can see the BB
If not, then find a spare BB if you can, connect it and repeat step 1 to 3. This will determine if it is the BB fault or the Desktop manager corrupted.
Alternatively, you can install Desktop Manager on another computer (lets say yours) and try to detect the BB. If it can, do a backup there.
Whatever is corrupted, reinstall the desktop manger, device and handheld firmware. Restore the backup and try again.
