Question Desktop Mgr stuck in "Working" mode

Please Login to Remove!

All at once my desktop manager goes to the "working" state and stays there. I can re-install the software (v.4.0) and the first time I connect it seems ok but if I disconnect and re-connect it is stuck again. Same if I reboot the balckberry. Any ideas what to do?

Create a new profile in outlook and delete the old one (don't give it the same name either).

OR COPY to a new one and give it a different name, then delete the old one.

Search this forum for "working". There is a post with all the details about re-installing the manager software. Basically, you remove the RIM and PumaTech folders on your hard drive, remove them from the registry, uninstall, reboot and then re-install. Also remove the battery for a bit from the unit itself. I found this has cleared up the "stuck in working" problem for me.

Of course, you might want to try just the battery removal first, since it is alot quicker

I just had the same problem. The battery removal did the trick! Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion. In one of the old threads there was the advice to: "delete the "c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\application data\research in motion" folder, most issues with Desktop manager get fixed on my system." and that did the trick.

Been donig the entire folder. Seems to work with nothing lost. Maybe a bad idea but don't know what all is in there. All my backups, settings, signatures, etc. are still intact and I have done this a few times now.

That's actually my advice

Just about everything in that folder get's recreated every time you open up Desktop Manager.

As for the "working" status....I'm not a Domino/Notes guy, but that status is when the Desktop Manager is trying to connect to the mailbox (I think it's a file on notes, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).

This may not help at all, but maybe it'll give you an idea you can work with as at least a starting point to fix the issue instead of deleting the RIM folder all the time.

Well, not quite all fixed here. Seems the pull the battery and delete the folder works to solve the problem until I run the app loader. Everytime I do that, even if I do not install anything, I am back to having the problem again. Only fix seems to be to go through all of the above again. Not a very good solution. Anyone know what is causing this?

Seems most of the problem is on the Blackberry as a hard boot almost always seems to fix this regardless of what is done on the desktop. Still a pain when it happens.

Have you tried reloading the handheld software? Yes it's a dumb question, but just trying to figure everything out.

Do you do replication of your .nsf file onto your PC? If so, what happens if you set notes to use no connection as your location? does it still get stuck on working?

make sure there is only the one notes.ini, and that desktop manager is looking at the right one.

Does it still happen if Notes is open/closed the whole time?

I'm going to ask my Notes friend on this, see if i can get an answer, or at least some other things to check.
