Nokia device on BES?

My Cingular rep is promoting a new device, the Nokia E62. She says there is "no software needed in order
to get emails from your microsoft servers." I emailed her and asked if it would work with Lotus Notes. She replied "yes, if you use a BES server." Is this true? Can I add a non-Blackberry device to our BES that serves all of our 7290's?

Thanks in advance for any/all replies!

Marcia

Yeah you can...I would suggest you buy a blackberry because it has push email and the e62 is so big its hard to fit in ones hand...you might want to look into maybe an 8700 or 7130 from Cingular

You should try looking in the "Blackberry on Non-RIM Hardware" http://www.blackberryforums.com/blac...-rim-hardware/

You should get more specifics regarding BlackBerry Connect, the software which runs on the Nokia E36, allowing it to connect to the BES.

There are limitations that may persuade you to look at a true BlackBerry alternative.

You should also speak with your BlackBerry support person(s) to understand if they can and do support BlackBerry Connect devices such as the E36.

Remember, sales reps are out to sell you service and hardware. In most cases, they tell you something is possible, when in fact it is NOT possible. I know this because several times a week, users explain to me that they "should" be able to do X,Y, or Z because the sales rep said so. I have to explain that we either don't have the necessary policy, proceedure or what-have-you in place to support something.
