I am about to buy a Blackberry Pearl.
My employer may not load the Blackberry software onto my work PC.
My work PC does however run MS Activesync, via which I sychronise my Pocket PC with my work PC.
Can I synchronise a Blackberry, directly with a Pocket PC (without
going via my work PC) - i.e. sync my work PC to my pocket PC and then sync my Pocket PC to my BB?

Nope. Sorry - there is no way to sync a Pocket PC to a BlackBerry, or to sync the BB with ActiveSync.

But, I suppose I could sync my pocket PC to Outlook on my home PC and then sync my BB to the recently synced Outlook on my home PC?

How do you plan on getting your work e-mail to the BB?

Via the Ipaq. Funny eh? I but a BB to cut down on the number of devies I need to carry and................!

I'm having a similar problem....sort of.... I have an iPAQ, which I sync using ActiveSync 4.7. I just got a 7100i and am trying to install the desktop management software. When I do, I get an error message saying that there is a newer version already installed..... and it aborts the installation. So, it sounds to me like 1.) the desktop installer is attempting to install an older version of ActiveSync? and 2.) it's not possible to run two versions of the same software from different folders for different purposes?

I just got the 7100i yesterday, but have plenty of gadgets and phones so I thought I'd be able to figure this out. WRONG!

I've searched and haven't found anything remotely like this issue on any thread so far. I apologize if I missed something tho.... Could someone possibly help me around this...or point me to somewhere this is discussed? I need to be able to download some software is the main reason for needing the desktop software. I SO appreciate ANY help!!

I have activesync 4.5 and DM 4.1 running on the same machine, no problems.

Still won't let me install DM. Same error - newer version is installed. I'm going to try another computer now. Only have access to Macs at home.

What version of Desktop Manager are you installing? Where did you get it from?

What operating system on your PC?
