Question Can BES track installed apps?

Please Login to Remove!

I am responsible for redeploying previously used blackberries. In the last several weeks i have had some come back with games and themes loaded on them. The only way to do this is to connect via USB cable and the desktop manager, as the web is locked out for our end users.

My question is, can the BES adminsitrators see what applications are installed on a device without actually looking at the device? My first inclination is no, but i am not 100% sure. anyone know?

FYI, we are using mostly 7250 devices.

Yes installed apps can be seen on the BES. In Blackberry Manager click on the user and choose edit properties, go to the Blackberry and then into Modules all my games are listed there...

It's best to assume that nothing's private on a company owned, BES connected BB. It has even been shown that PIN messages can be pulled by BES admins (even though the messages aren't delivered via the BES server).

Good to know. i wouldnt have thought that PIN messages would be visible. it would probably be safe to assume that any web pages visited would also be visible to the BES admins, even though they too are not delivered through the BES?

Don't ever type anything that you wouldn't want someone else to read.
This holds true for e-mail, IM, PIN, SMS, etc...

If "someone" wants to read your messages badly enough, they'll find a way.
