I'm using an 8700G connected to my company's BES server for work email and T-Mobile's BIS service for personal email.
I wanted to send a contact's details to a colleague so created an email and used 'Attach Address' to attach said contact. However, when I try to send it through my work account and the BES server it fails with the message 'Message included an unknown attachment'. Sending the same email using my personal BIS service works, even if the recipient's BlackBerry is connected to the same BES server as mine.
So, it's obviously possible to receive addresses on a BES connected BlackBerry but what do I need to do to be able to send them through a BES server account? |
Just sounds like a problem with the BES Service Books on your device. Did you at any time try to do a new Enterprise Activation like you did the first time when getting it set up on the BES? Are you conifugered thru the BES to wirelessly sychronize? You might even try to regenerate encryption keys.
To try this step, go to Options/Security Options/General Settings, scroll just under the word SERVICES, click the track wheel and see if the option "Regenerate Encryption Keys" appears. If so, try that option and then try again.
If that still did not work, I would recommend wiping the handheld, being taken off and then put back on the bes server with a new activation password and then doing a new Enterprise Activation.
Not sure if this would have anything to do with it, but checking your "Security" settings on the bb may be something to look at too. Like check for "Firewall" settings or some of the other security options. Just something else to think about
Also look at your corp email server settings to see if it's allowing for attachments to go thru the bes server. Have someone try to send YOU an attachement from their MS Outlook account. Assuming you have a MS Exchange server, the email should go from the person's computer, to the MS Exchange server, thru the BES Server via port 3101 (only the BES Server can open this portal), thru the Internet, to the Wireless Network of your carrier and to your Blackberry. If this part doesn't work then there may be a setting on the BES Server that's not allowing attachments to go thru that port.
Check with your carrier's Blackberry Help Desk Support Line for further assistance if any of the steps mentioned above still does not solve the problem.
Hope this steers you in the right direction.
