I already get them for my area but thats good to know. Im signed up at www.metrofirepaging.com for EMS/Police calls in the northern, nj area, being in EMS i like to know whats going on around me, we get amber alerts also from time to time
I supposed I'm the annoyed citizen who has never been directly involved with the Amber Alert laws except a) when the congressmen behind this particular law threw the book at clubs and the entertainment industry by sneaking in an already dismissed proposed law and got it passed the good ole D.C. way, b) when I installed a Dell computer into a police office to help aide in the Amber Alert movement, and c) when I'm enjoying a nice program on television and the volume suddenly drops out and some robotic sounding old man voices over and a bar flashes across with information about some child who ran away from home because they hate their parents (atleast in these areas, about 80% or more of the Amber Alerts have ended up being something similar). Law enforcement in these parts no longer like the passing of this law. I suppose it can do some good in more populated areas, though.

I signed up for the text message alerts, but then I thought about deleting that and getting the email alert version. Does anyone use this? It doesn't seem to be state specific so I wonder if you get ALL alerts throughout U.S.?
