Odd issue - can you fix it? I have an 8703e and in my profile i have messages set to "notify_bikehorn". Problem is, when i receive an email, it places another small 1-2 second ringer in front of the one that is set. i have changed profiles (it doesnt do it on other ringers), pulled the battery and have reloaded the OS. what is the deal? |
i cant believe no one knows this one.....it is now happening to 5-6 other folks using 8703's and 7130's.....anyone? |
All pulling the batteries out will do is flash the memory. Dis this come wiith the OS? I would re download the file and doul check the settings |

It didnt start out this way and i have already reloaded the OS. |
I too am still looking for a fix to this problem. The extra sound that is playing before Notifier_Nymph on my 8703e is the "BlackBerry 1" sound from the 7290. This extra tone also plays when I have the Normal profile set to just Vibrate. So that is annoying. I tried to work with RIM support but they had to get Sprint on the line to get some information. When they tried to conference the call, they disconnected themselves and I haven't taken the time to call RIM Back. Hasn't anyone else seen this? |
sounds like the ringtone is corrupted. Can you reload that one ringer. May help Does it happen on others also or just the ringtone? If so I would get a new copy of the ringtone if possible. |
This also happened when the first 7100ts came out. It was resolved with a firmware upgrade. |
can you download songs onto the blackberry pearl |

You can load music to a BB either through the Media Manager that comes as part of Desktop Manager 4.2, or directly to a microSD card. |
Hmm that never happen when I had my 7100t. But then again I always kep the OS updated heck I even kep root certs in check This seems to be a problem wit a lot of sprint models |
Yes, well the root certs have a lot to do with ringtones... |
I noticed this on my 7130e as well. I found that the program Blackberry Alerts, that I was trying, was doing it. Not sure how, but when I removed the program from the system, the 2 tones stopped. Don't know if that's relevant or not. |
I haven't installed anything like BlackBerry Alerts or anything that would affect the ringers/notifiers. I did get a replacement from Sprint. As soon as it was activated and the service books were sent I sent myself an email and sure enough, it too had the problem with the extra tones. Personally, I just want RIM to be aware of this problem and to correct it in a future OS release for the 8703e. I imagine that quite a few RIM employees browse these forums. If anyone from RIM is reading this, can you please report this problem to the appropriate people? |
Cant believe no one has a fix for this yet...... |

No idea -- our Blackberries are 8700c's and 8700g's and none of them behave this way. |
I too am experiencing this problem. I noticed the two sounds after I installed the zen theme. I have since reverted my 7130e to its stock Sprint setting. I still get two sounds. |
any updates on this problem? My phone is still playing two sounds. It also vibrates twice when on vibrate setting. |
