Question Locating BES for T-Mobile to disable Gmail sent mail - 01-06-2007, 10:58 AM

Hi,

Can someone on T-mobile please go through the steps necessary to disable having a copy of all sent mail sent to my Pearl? When I go to t-mobile.com/Bes, it says to log into my.t-mobile. When I do this, and try to edit the email, I don't see any way to filter, enable or disable sent mail, etc.

And there doesn't seem to be an easy way to register for BES on Blackberry's site, because when you click on t-mobile, it takes you to the site referenced above. So I am still at a loss as to how to go about this.

Could someone please provide an explanation?

Thanks!
SRS

You do not need BES. That is usually for corporate users and their company has a BES installed with their corporate email servers. You can subscribe to a 3rd party hosted BES provider but it's another monthly fee.

If you are just wanting to get rid of the GMail sent mail issue, simply log into my.t-mobile and go to "setup internet email." You should see your gmail account in there. On the right are links for "edit", "filter", and "delete." Click on the one that says filter and set up the filters as described above. You want to not forward to handheld all mail that comes from your email address....

Hey John,
Thanks for the response. I guess my problem is that when I log into my.t-mobile, I have an edit icon and a delete icon, but not a filter icon! I guess I'll contact T-mobile, unless there are any other suggestions...
Many thanks,
S.

...and that's for your GMail account? While you're in there I would delete the account and recreate it. That will probably fix it.

Yes. Log into your Blackberry Internet Service, where you set the account up, and delete the account.

Mystery solved... as a prior T-mobile phone owner, it still had my phone listed as my old one. As soon as I changed the phone on my.t-mobile to the Blackberry, it changed the page and instead of saying email options, it said Blackberry options. When I went in there, it was a whole different ballgame. Set up the filter and all is well.

Thanks for your patience, and hopefully this can help a future confused person!

Heart_and_skull,
Welcome to the forums....

Register on the tmobile site, if you're not already registered. Then get logged in. One logged in go to "setup internet email." Then you should see a list of your email address(es). On the right hand side should be 3 icons, edit, filter, and delete. Click on filter and follow the instructions in this thread.

I have a 8700 with T-Mobile and BES. I logged on at MyTMobile.com, but when I clicked on Set Up E-mail, I got this error message:

We apologize, you do not have access to the My E-mail service.
Please use the e-mail solution provided with your wireless handheld.

If I use the Setup Internet Email icon on my BB, I can change things like my username and password, but it doesn't give the options mentioned in the op.

What now?

Thanks,

Luke
what you have to do is choose the phone you are using to show up in the top right corner. once you choose your 8700 then you'll be able to do it.

Now that I learned how to remove sent messages.....I have to learn how to log into T-mobile to make the change. It's originally my wife's account, so I never go in there....never needed to.

Still don't know how to do it with rogers.

I asked Rogers Customer Service and even the rep said it can't be done (he obviously doesn't know much....since it can be done).

ANy step by step instructions for Rogers?

Thanks!

I have problem that is a bit different but I'm thinking it might be to do with filters. My house is not in a GPRS area so when at home I deal with my gmail email on my PC. Once I've read and dealt with an email I either delete it or move it to some offline folder. I have a low(ish) monthly data limit so was hoping that the deleted emails would not then appear when I get back in to GPRS signal but they do. I have even tried to turn off Data on the Pearl and then turn it back on again when I am back in GPRS range but still I recieve the deleted emails.

Does anybody know if this can be stopped?

Nope. The RIM servers and your POP3/SMTP/Exchange servers run separately and in parallel paths.
