I've never had success with this method. I realize this post is a little old. Have there been any new ideas? I have BIS on a new Bold with ATT

This thread is a little old, but I noticed a change that could be made with regards to the gmail/yahoo sent emails showing up in the inbox(es).

If you have configured gmail/yahoo in BIS, you'll need to filter out all emails coming from the [email address] address only. Add this filter for each email account added to BIS.

If you continue to receive sent emails from the gmail/yahoo accounts, go to gmail/yahoo and turn off forwarding as BIS is pushing and syncing your emails both ways. I checked this and I know it works. This allows you to send emails to yourself (like for documents you need and don't want to take your laptop on the road for example) on an as needed basis.

If you have any questions, post here. I'll try to explain further if you don't get it.

or you can just get the gmail app...and be done with it bugging you.

Titetanium,
Thanks for your tips. I never actually set up a blackberry.net email address (I use ExchangeMyMail for BES and Gmail & Yahoo directly via BIS). Do you know what I can use instead to make your tip work?

I tried using the username I use for my AT&T BIS online login but that didn't work.

Appreciate your feedback, thanks!

>>>>>ETA >>>>>>
BTW, in the meantime, I followed the initial procedure to stop the sent item echo, but in my case for some reason I would always get double echoes. They have now stopped once I added two filters, one for user at gmail.com and a second for user at googlemail.com

Hadn't seen anyone else mention this issue. However, in any case Titetanium's solution sounds better so would prefer to use it. Thanks.

I have the same problem with the duplicate sent emails. I called TMo & RIM awhile back but the filter didn't work. I called again since I'm going nuts. Talked to TMo 2x and RIM 1x tonight. TMo even set up the filter themselves but the filter doesn't work for some unknown reason. Both RIM and TMo blame Gmail. Tried titetanium's last idea, didn't work either. I'd prefer to let BB grab the gmail and not forward to BB thru gmail. Any other ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!!!!

This is just a simple filter to not send emails from yourself to the BB device. You must be missing a step in there as it works fine on my Gmail account on my my 8320 on TMobile.

Same thing i had. I just had to go to my set up email and do the Blackberry email and then it allowed me to log in to the website.

BTW thanks a bunch. This helped me quite a bit. I just activated mine today and it was getting pretty annoying sitting at my lap top getting copied on EVERY email i sent. only sent a hundred or so today so boy it got annoying.

Simma, in your case, you want to filter emails sent from your gmail address from being sent to your bb and let any emails from the bb address thru. If you're still getting the double echo, check for any auto bcc entries and delete any email addresses listed there.

The filter works fine for me, and I liked it for a while. However, I got used to seeing my sent mail inline on the BB and decided that I would like to see a copy of sent messages from the gmail web client on my BB. When I removed the filter, I got exactly that, but now I see 2 versions of the sent message when I send from my bb - the one I composed on the bb, and one that comes in from gmail just a few seconds later. What's going on there, and how do I fix it?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

The filter is the fix for that.

Thanks, JC. What the filter is doing for me is blocking delivery to my bb of some sent messages from the gmail web client (I use 2 accounts in my gmail, neither of which are sent as me@gmail - it blocks the main one but not the other one).

my filter is "block me@firstdomain" but I also send from gmail as "me@seconddomain"

What I want is this:

-when i send a message from my bb, I see only the message I sent from my bb on my bb (the filter currently does this). this message should also show up as read and archived in gmail (I've already got this covered).
-when i send a message from my gmail, I see it come in on my bb as sent from me, regardless of which send-as address I use

what I currently have is this:

-when i send a message from my bb it only shows up once (good)
-when I send a message from gmail it will show up in my bb if my "send as" address in gmail is not the filtered one (makes sense, I guess) but it won't if its the filtered address

when I remove the filter, i get 2 copies of sent messages in my bb when I send from my bb, and the from address on the second 1 (the one I presume gmail is delivering) is me@firstdomain.

as an aside, I'd love to be able to "send-as" me@seconddomain from my bb, without actually setting up that other account on my bb, but I can live without it.

thanks in advance for any suggestions.

This was working for me, but now all of a sudden I'm getting my sent messages back again. The filter is still there. [email address] is added in BIS as a filter and marked as Do not send. Like I said I wasn't getting them for months, now all of a sudden I am. Any ideas.?

Are you still on att?....<shudders with excitement> could bis 2.6 be being rolled out? Or is it far to soon to hope?

2.6 is suppose to correct the sent mail spam

Yeah I'm on AT&T. I switched it to IMAP and that fixed it. No idea why it started doing that. I hadn't changed a single setting and the BIS filter clearly had my email as Do not send to mobile.

Anyway, now that I'm on IMAP it works fine HOWEVER I don't get the little star on the envelope. I get a new email notice up top but the icon itself in the menu doesn't have the star so if I had a yahoo email too I wouldn't know I had a gmail one. Any clues there?

No clue there, but I deleted my Google App email added as a POP account, and re-added as an IMAP account, and had no issues - and delivery was instant all day yesterday.
