This problem has now been fixed with BIS 2.6. Resend your service books to get the new 2.6 version service books and the problem should go away.

This issue has been addressed in BIS 2.6 which was released a couple of weeks ago. You will need to remove and re-add your Gmail account for the fix to take place.

I'm not 100% sure that it requires removing and re-adding the account. A resend of the service books *should* do it but I've edited the first post and added instructions to remove the account and re-add it to BIS to fix this issue.

You could be correct, John.

SoxFan, could you verify this? Could you send the service books and test before removing the account?

Send the service books the exact same way you setup the account to begin with. You can do it via the web or from your device. You should have a "Manage Internet Email" icon on your device. Use that.

That did the trick for the gmail duplicates, thanks...but created a new problem. Now every time I delete an email I get a message asking if I just want to delete on handheld or on handheld and mailbox. I have already indicated "no" to to "confirm delete" within my messages folder under general options, which had been doing the trick, but now this problem appears? What now?

Go to Messages >Options >Email Reconciliation and set "Delete On" to your desired setting. It's set to "Prompt" right now. You can set it to "Handheld" or "Mailbox & Handheld."

Wow. Good stuff. Now that I am on a roll, two more questions:

1) I changed the font to something big that I can read for my emails, like 13, extra bold. But only the message header info changed size and became bold. The messages contents are thin, small charachters. How do I fix this so that the messages themselves are big and bold?

2) Can I get SMS messages to dump into my messages folder and not have to go to a separate sms icon to find them and respond to them, or to send new messages, so that I can hide the SMS icon in order to minimize icons?

This service book thing seems to have messaged up a bunch of things. Now when I push "R" in an email to reply, there's no "send" option??? Help.

Update: Well, that problem seems to have been limited to 1-2 emails. Things seem fine now on that front.

I am still frustrated about the issue with the small font size in the email content.

Options > Screen/Keyboard will allow you to adjust the fonts.

Messages > Options > General Options > Email & SMS = Combined.

If you don't have a send option, I would remove the account and then re-add it.

The send option will likely be missing for replies to mail that was received before resending the service books.

I have been trying forever now to get this to work for verizon wireless and I am completely lost. Everytime i follow the steps on the first page no matter what it says i cannot access my account via HTML browser. I dont know what to do from here, and when i log onto my email setup via my blackberry i find both of my accounts my @gmail.com and @vzw.blackberry.com but it only offers edit and delete and edit does not have anything about filters. Please any help would be appreciated.

Ok so I solved this problem myself,

Using the new 9630 Tour on Verizon Wireless

Go to the Setup folder>

email settings>

it will say connecting to email settings>
select your gmail account>

use your trackball to click and at the bottom you should see "Edit Filters and Delete" choose filters>

Click add filter>

Filter name will be your first text box, you can put anything in here (mine says "sent emails")>

Filter on: "From address" select that from the drop down menu>

Contains: type your full gmail account in here and click add (i use multiple gmail accounts so i had to keep clickinig add after i typed one in, pretty obvious)>

Action: select "do not forward messages to the device">

Click save and you should be done.

Let me know if you have any issues.

None of this is necessary.
BIS 2.7 corrected this issue with GMail and Sent Messages showing up as new mail on the handheld.

No filters need to be created to fix this problem. Just resend service books from BIS or remove the GMail account from BIS and re-add it.

Is there a way to have a set-up they way things were pre BIS 2.6/2.7. I actually want my blackberry to receive emails that I send using webmail elsewhere. That way I have a copy of my sent items on my Blackberry.

Verizon is my carrier. I have visited the store 3 times to try to resolve this problem with Gmail sending sent mail to my BB. Even mail that is in the process of being written - not even sent yet - is sent to me on my BB. I have filter my gmail account. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas short of switching from gmail .... or getting an iphone?

My question is a bit off topic but basically i want the opposite. I reloaded software on my phone losing all mails - but everything is still on my gmail account. I tried marking everything unread hoping it will all come back to the phone but it doesn't - any ideas?

Try moving all your gmails on the server or in Outlook from the inbox to another folder (like trash or spam and then move them back. I've found this to work sometimes.
