Default Australia - BlackBerry on Optus $99 Cap

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All ,
I have just gotten a BlackBerry 7100g on the Optus $99 Cap in Australia and I love it.
Was wondering if anyone can tell me if I am able to do data for IM and web browsing within this cap? I have tried talking to Optus and have gotten mixed answers.
Is there a way where I can do IM and the such through the 'Push' technology as this is definately part of the $99 Cap.
Hope this makes sense.

you can set an option for SMS over GPRS in your SMS options. but it all depends on the IM client - some use GPRS/data and some use SMS/text. the IM client built-in with T-Mobile's 7100t (Oz IM) is SMS-based (and TMO has disabled SMS over GPRS, so pushing it over the data network to skip around billing is no longer an option). other options, such as VeriChat, are data-based and will count as part of your data plan (although, as Mark found out, it pushes a lot of data, just in case you are not on a TRUE unlimited data plan).
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

Have a look at The cap includes up to 50MB of email usage. * Optus Zoo/ WAP GPRS browsing and downloading charges excluded. Special Optus Zoo /WAP offer valid to 30/09/05. See terms and conditions for details. WAP/GPRS $9.90 cap offer does not apply.

With Telstra its a little different. Their monthly fee includes unlimited BlackBerry specific traffic. ie email. Anything that is not specific to BB, ie WAP, SMS, Voice calls are charged extra. If you are running BES, all MDS traffic is included which is a great deal with Telstra. Plus its only $49.95 per month plus voice.
