Default business model for Blackberry content delivery

Please Login to Remove!

Hello. I have a growing business in adult education / just-in-time training and I have content that I believe would be suitable for Blackberry delivery. I'm not worried about that aspect for now.

I want to understand the business model behind BB content. Let's assume I have content that my target users want at a particular time/place. How does this translate into a business model?

Do they subscribe? or
Do I give the info free and I get paid by advertisers? or
Does it operate like text message services on cellphones? i.e. by the message?
Is this usually part of a more comprehensive offering, such as cellphone/website etc. (I suppose that would make great use of XML).

You've confessed that your content, being suitable for BB delivery, is not something you're worried about now.

Therefore, you're asking about your overall business model. Not exactly within the realm of expertise of this forum or its members.

Your questions are valid, but if no one knows suitable answers, I wouldn't expect much activity in this thread. Sorry.

Welcome to the forums, though.

Thanks.

Maybe I'm asking the question incorrectly.

What types of content are you Blackberry users downloading? As an example, say, a physical fitness regimen? With information, recordable personal vital stats, a dedicated calendar.

How are you paying for it, or, if not directly, who is paying for it?

I don't know how many businesses are using the blackberry to deliver content based information but I think that it is few at this time. One business that I know of currently is looking at delivering recorded audio shows on the fly, no downloading, actual real time delivery. I beleive their payment model is monthly/yearly subscription.

If your content is web based, then you might think of simply creating a website formatted for the blackberry browser and using a secure payment method. If you go about it another way, you have to do application development in the blackberry java world which isn't that hard but definately a learning experience.
