Default can I turn off messages?

Please Login to Remove!

I just came over from a Treo 650, and with it the email program was separate from the phone. When I'm in the office, I'd like to leave the phone on, but not get emails.

Can you turn off the email function on the Blackberry 8703e?

And since BlackBerry is so much better than TREO or anything else about making SURE that you get your email, if you DO turn it off, it will work exactly the same as if your phone was off or out of range - as soon as you get back into range - or in this case turn it back on - then ALL the email that you've missed will immediately come into the BlackBerry inbox. So what's the point? If you don't want any of it on the BB while at work, then set up a "work" profile that rings/vibrates for phone, but is silent for anything else. Then at the end of the day, take 30 seconds and do a "bulk erase" of the messages that have come in during the day.

There is a setting within the Desktop Manager to check whether or not to forward messages while the handheld is connected. I believe it only works with BES, however.
