Default Restoring Back to Original Software?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

My two week old BB 7250 put up a Java error message today. I clicked OK but then the phone rebooted and came up only in a black and white screen. Everything works but only black text on white background. I went to Options / Themes but there is no longer an entry for Themes !

I called Verizon and we wiped the BB completely but still no good. I even restored back from laptop to previous day but still no color! After the wipe, it did the enterprise activation and loaded all service books but guess some still arent there completely ?

Anyone know how to get the original OS software back installed?

I guess the backups dont really back up non-user data ?

Verizon is sending a new one but it seems silly since this isnt a hardware problem.

Thanks !!!!

Im curious as well as the default images wont appear in my "pictures" icon after a "wipe handheld" and resynch...wondering if a new OS would fix without losing data....

OK - back on topic here..

To purge the BB and reload the OS from scratch:

Get a copy of Javaloader. It is part of the BlackBerry SDK and you also can get a copy from Magmic when you download their games.

Download the latest software from Verizon and install it onto the PC.

Make sure Desktop Manager is not on; connect the BlackBerry and open a DOS prompt.

Type

javaloader -usb wipe

from the DOS prompt. This will wipe out the BB.

Start Desktop Manager. It will now attempt to load the OS back onto the empty BlackBerry.

See what happens - if it works, you can restore data if you'd like to.

Thanks so much...I did it this morning and the BB is back to new again! One caution, it took a couple of runs of javaloader wipe to clear it completely. Then run the Verizon exe file then run desktop manager and choose app loader to select everything to re-install.

Wish Verizon could have just told me that instead of sending another phone !

Thanks again for the help.

I know that it has been a while since this thread ended, but I have a huge issue. I bought a 7250 from eBay. There is no phone or browser icon on the home screen, while there seems to be too many extra icons. I keep trying to wipe handheld, yet to no avail. Verizon cannot figure it out. They say that the device is corrupted and they cannot do a thing. I have been holding for RIM forever. Is there any other solution? Please, someone help! Thank you!

"I bought a 7250 from eBay"...

The device has an IT policy on it from the prior owner... You have to wipe out the IT Policy before you'll be able to do anything.

Search on "remove IT policy" and find one of the threads abotu removing a policy.

And you re-opened a newarly one year old thread - could be a record!

If anyone is thinking about doing this, don't freak out after you type in 'JavaLoader -usb wipe' because it will say connected, disconnected, and the blackberry will reboot. But when it comes back it will be 507 and act like it is totally dead (at least in my case it did). Just leave it plugged in and start the Desktp Manager and everything will be good.

After you run the wipe command, simply plug the Blackberry back in and run your application loader. You will notice that all the items that are normally checked are now blank. Simply re add the check marks and this will reload your Blackberry OS. I know this works because I just did it yesterday to remove a douplicate application that I couldn't uninstall.

After you installed the system software did you remove the vendor file. DO a search for it and remove it. Vendor.xlm
