Default Accidently selected BES on 4.0 install ... How to fix?

Please Login to Remove!

Last night I upgraded my 7750 (Telus) to 4.0 and selected the BES option because the second option asked if I want to retrieve my work email and personal email then select BES. I guess that was misleading.

Anyway, now I can receive email, reply to email but I can't send new email. It sends an encrypted email to my Outlook like this :

"This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry Handheld and an associated server. Please do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server. BEGINETP 184 (encrypted message here)"

How do I change from BES to BWC? I read somewhere that it wasn't easy. Does this mean I need to reinstall 4.0?

Thanks in advance ... Rob

Yes, just uninstall and reinstall the Desktop Manager. You may need to delete some Service Books, as I'm sure it added something to your handheld.

Default Still not working ...

Well ... I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything and downloaded a new service book and I still have the same problem.

It doesn't matter who I send a new email to from my BB, an email is sent to my personal desktop (POP3) email :

This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry Handheld and an associated server. Please do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server.

Go into settings and check what Service Books are on your handheld. Prior to enterprise activation, the only service books on my unit were Web Client, Provisioning, WAP Transport, WAP Push Config and mMode. After enterprise activation, six service books all identifed as Desktop (Browser Config, SYNC, CICAL, iPPP, ALP and CMIME) were added.

I'm far from a BB expert, but I would guess that the Desktop Service Books shouldn't be there if you are not using a BES? Instead of just uninstalling and reinstalling the Desktop software, should a "wipe" of the handheld be done first?

Default Fixed!

OK, I deleted all service books from 7750, uninstalled 4.0 completely, reinstalled 4.0, and downloaded a new service book.

She works!

Thanks for all your great advice!

Cheers! ... Rob
