Default a really cool Blackberry repopulation

Please Login to Remove!

just activated your blackberry and cant believe that there is no way to get all of your old messages in you Exchange mailbox onto your device?

Your tech guys tells you that the 'pre-population' will only give you the last 200 emails or 5 days?

You can use a temporary GMail account to send EVERYTHING to your Blackberry And not screw up your Exchange mailbox either.

what you do is this:

1) create a GMail account
2) set up the GMail account to auto-fwd everything it receives to your BES-enabled mailbox
3) set up GMail's new POP retrieval feature to download the mail in your BES-enabled mailbox

The Gmail goes to your mailbox, gets everything, and forwards it to your mailbox. and the BES service then sees them as new messages and puts them on your Blackberry. And it even has the correct 'from' address (it doesnt look like a forward)

if you need more help, let me know.
But it works great and its free!

-g

POP enabling a corporate e-mail account... Wow... A security breach waiting to happen!

I don't really see a need to push email older than 5 days to my device. If I need it, its in my mailbox....

Default populating older, needed emails

This was to solve a problem for a customer that needed historical emails with him when he travels.

How else could you get a folder called 'Saves' with emails going back 1 year.

if you forward them, they lose the 'from' information.

I am sure this topic will help someone, somewhere.

thanks for the smart-a** postings.

There's nothing wrong with your method and it's not a bad idea. It just won't work for a majority of the users with corporate BES's.

Your initial post (your first post ever, I might add) seemed much like an advertisement to buy something....kind of like, want to make your own fuel? Call this number. No info, just an email address. I just passed it by.

Realizing of course that you'll never get a year's worth of email on a BB anyway. There just isn't enough memory.
