Default PPT from CEO Lazardis: "There's no free lunch in physics"

I was googling for data on something entirely different, but I came across this presentation from him. It highlights design limitations in processors and in networks, and justifies the design decisions made for the BlackBerry platform.

I found it to be interesting, especially in the graphs of GPRS/EDGE/UMTS throughput, spectral efficiency tables, and "equivalent voice minutes/month" metric they must be pitching to carriers.

Good find. Thank you. Does this, I wonder, mean that upgrades to EDGE will get us the speeds he's talking about? If so, amidst all the buzz about 3G, I wonder if an upgraded EDGE is being planned or is he just pushing for it?

Very interesting.
