Default Nextel mail delivery is sometimes delayed for hours?

Please Login to Remove!

I am using the Nextel 7100i with the Blackberry Web Client. I have all of my email forwarded directly to the blackberry. Generally, I receive it in under one minute. Often it will be delivered in a matter of seconds. For the last several days, some emails will be delivered quickly while other emails will be delayed for up to two hours. I have resent the service books which did not help. Has anyone had these problems over the last few days?

Not that this will fix anything, but also try a master reset on the device (options->security->general->click anything and choose master reset; this will not affect any data on the device). If that still doesn't help, pull the battery while the device is on (this is considered a hard reset) and see if that helps. Good luck!

Where do you forward your emails from? It is possible that the problem is at that end. Check with mail server admin/owner if their server has issues or unexpected mail queueing.

You did not mention the service, Yahoo, Gmail etc. but if their servers are loaded you will see delays. sometimes the sender will send an email and the system will "Q" the email and so will the receiver if their busy. All will contribute to the delay you see. If your not having problems with the BB in other ways, I would not start pulling the battery or reloading any software.

They may even queue it.

Thanks for the great responses. After researching this further, I think you are right. The delay appears to be coming from the server that is forwarding the emails. What is odd is that I have used this set up for a couple of years and have not had this delay before. Nevertheless, the delay was down to about 6 minutes today. Thanks again for all the help.
