Default Notification options

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone,
I am relatively new to the BlackBerry scene (a recent transplant from Pocket PC land). So far, I am really liking my new BlackBerry. One thing that is a bit annoying is the lack of notification options. Not exactly ringtones, but how notification is done. It seems that if the unit is on silent, and you still want notification of messages it will vibrate twice. However, for phone calls, it does that same thing. Same for direct connect alerts (on Nextel). Is there any way to set the number of times the unit is to vibrate for different events? I find myself having to wait for a third vibrate to see if I just got a mail message or a phone call. Occasionally I will get two messages back to back that seems like a phone call (4 vibrate alerts) but really isn't.

Not really a big problem. Just an annoyance is all.

Thanks.

This has been discussed many times before. Take a look at a search for more info. Short answer is that there are a minimum of two vibrations and no way to change that. I have set mine up to give a very soft beep as a notification of incoming email (using Blackberry 5 on low) and set the vibrate for the phone. This way a vibration is always a phone call but I can know if an email has come in but it does not bother others in a meeting. Also remember you can set the action differently for in and out of the holster or case.
