Default How Important Is A Speakerphone?

Please Login to Remove!

I am a first time Blackberry user or user to be that is! I am debating between the now discontinued 7250 and the 8703e. Other than more memory and a enhanced screen and phone buttons on the 8703e, my dilemma boils down to the following: The features that are most appealing to me are the more robust vibrator on the 7250 as I am in an environment what requires that my tones be turned off much of the time, but it does not have a speakerphone. I rarely use my speakerphone but concerned that I am giving up an important feature as most of my phones have had thenm in recent years. What are peoples experience with speakerphones and when do you use them, especially with bluetooth headsets and communication speakers in cars now available. Thanks. I would appreciate some feedback.

One of the features I like the most is the speakerphone. I have had other BB and this is the first one that does. ( 8700 ). I use it while driving to avoid having to keep it at my ear. I also dont like the BT headsets because they place a transmitter near your head. I use a wired ear bud when driving sometimes.
I vote having the speakerphone. The vibrator is ok on the 8700. A little better than the 7290 I had last

First off, ask yourself how often did YOU use the speakerphone function when you had it on your previous phones. If you never used it very often or never used it at all, there really is no need for it. As for me, I've had speakerphone on all my phones (3 years, 3 phones) and I don't remember having to use the speakerphone other than to test out how it works and the last time I used it was because I could barely hear the person on the other line, so I switched to speaker just for the added volume.

I love my speakerphone! I use it allllll the time! But I find that it doesn't pick up my voice as clearly as I'd like it too...somtimes.

I never use mine, when I do the quality is less then stellar and find I have to speak directly at the speaker for anyone to hear me. I find it easier to use a BT headset.

Hushbo,

If I'm the passenger rather than the driver of a car, I always use the speakerphone. Mainly because of all the noisy trucks driving by. I can hear so much better with it on.

The quality on my 8703e is great and I use it all the time for conferences and getting voicemail.

The only thing that's better on the 7250 (which I used to have) is the keyboard.

I rarely use mine. Mainly for checking voicemail or in some rare cases if my Bluetooth headset isn't around. However, I don't see why my usage should affect your purchasing decision. Either you use it or you don't. I'd strongly recommend the 8703e. There's more to it than just the speakerphone, improved screen, additional memory, and phone buttons, IMO (faster processor, faster data connection speed, etc).
