Default Reducing EMF radiation

Please Login to Remove!

I've never been a fan of cooking my brain, or any other part of my body, with a cell phone. I found this product that supposedly absorbs 97% of the radiation output from your phone. Anyone use these things or know anything about them?

I'm sure this isn't the only one available. Not a fan of the design lol: rense.com/zer/zerofon.htm (sorry it won't let me post urls yet)

You can listen to them talk about it here: rense.gsradio.net:8080/rense/special/rense_Dr_Hildegard_Staninger_010407.mp3

I think the whole cell phone and radiation thing has been proven to be bogus... So IMHO this is a gimmick....

How has it been proven to be bogus? You cannot deny that phones output radiation. Certain ones output more than others and you can find that information for some brands.

What is questionable is whether or not the radiation is potentially harmful to your health. I'm concerned with adult use. I think it's completely moronic to let your 10 year old use a cell phone, considering the radiation penetrates a child's head much easier. Cell phones have not been around long enough to determine the long term effects of this kind of radiation exposure.

CNET has a chart of several brands, by the way. Take a look. RIM models rate pretty high: Cell phone radiation chart - CNET reviews

The best way, in my opinion, to reduce EMF is to use a wired headset. Some have said that it acts as an antenna and guides the EMF to your head, but I don't buy it.

A wired headset is supposedly worse. The best way is to use speaker phone, or use a tube headset, in which there is a tube that conducts sound waves to your ear, rather than electronically. Example with article: Why Cell Phone Headsets Increase Radiation to Your Head

I have an idea. If I ever order one of these lady bug things, I'll put my phone next to my CRT monitor and see if the radiation still screws with the screen. If it's just as bad, my guess is they don't actually work. Yeah?

You could wrap your head in tin foil.... :D

There are many, many other things that you encounter on a daily basis that also emit different levels of radiation....the only way to protect yourself is a full tin foil wrap....

Then, they won't be able to tell what you're thinking either....

All joking aside, if you find something that appears to legitimately work, let us know. I'm sure there's more people here that won't mind knowing what works and what doesn't....

Most likely you'll die of a traffic accident or random act of violence, before your phone kills you. Don't worry abt it.

Yes, like wifi for instance. However, I'm not shoving my wireless router against the side of my head lol.

How about ... I just got me a broadband card from Cingular (which by the way is crazy fast) and I can feel the radiation through my right hand because it's so close. The Verizon broadband does the same thing. Kind of a weird feeling. Don't know if I am comfortable with that.

It does have an external antenna plug, I might buy an external antenna and tape it to the back of the monitor, that might actually do the trick. My next Thinkpad will have Cingular Broadband installed, and I believe the antenna is in the side of the monitor.

What do you mean you can feel the radiation? I've used a VZW broadband card for 2 years and never felt anything. What does it feel like?

The WHO is expected to issue a statement this year stating that there are no links between cell phone use and cancer or any other major health risks, although it is widely believed that money has played/will play a huge role in their findings. Go figure, another corrupt authority. *sigh*

Every study I've every read says cell phones don't put out enough power to be harmful. If I'm correct, cells (and BB's I'm sure) put out 1 miliwatt of power. I've heard of portable Public Safety and CB radios that put out 5 watts of power, 5,000 times as much with no harmful side effects, and they've been in use for 60+ years. I know you talk on a cell phone more then on a walkie-talkie and keep it closer to the body, but still the issue would have come up by now.

Errr... I'm not sure if citing an ADVERTISEMENT as evidence is particularly convincing...

I agree. I wouldn't view their research as credible, but in theory, why not by an air tube one anyway? Obviously the air tube won't conduct anything. You'll probably never really know if wired headsets are worse or better. Better safe than sorry, I'd say.

I believe that I can add something to this issue.
I teach Police Traffic Radar for our agency. In the initial instructor certification, we had a large block of instruction on radio waves and the relation to cancer.
The FDA has stated point blank that there is no evidence that radio waves cause any cancer or other problems.
Cases and studies that find the contrary have been proven flawed, and are usually funded by interested parties in lawsuits.
On a daily basis, we are exposed to much higher levels of radiation from many sources (microwaves, etc.)
