I thought I had seen this issue before--a long time ago--and may have even participated in the discussion, but I can't find it and I've searched using about every search term I know to use.

I have a new 8703 from VZW. When I installed the desktop manager last night and tried to use the Application Loader, the software said "No system software was found on the device." So I connected my former BB (7130e), which I had never connected to this particular laptop before, and it said the same thing.

Now, from what I remember, this wasn't a device issue. It was a desktop issue. Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

You must download and install the Handheld OS for the 8703 onto your PC. Download it from VZW, then execute the download.

That should cure that error.

Thank you both! The search for "no system software" wasn't fruitful because the search engine tossed out the word "no," leaving only "system" and "software" as the keywords. That returned a large number of unhelpful posts.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
