Well, this is some interesting news. BBHub has just broken the news that RIM has filed for a patent on a rotating keyboard!

Interesting design, but like all such "combo" keyboards, I find myself not liking it, especially since it's clearly based on the SureType keyboards, which I've never liked.

So, what do you all think about this development?

That is, umm... interesting, to say the very least. I doubt that's the final keyboard layout, to be honest. I hope not, atleast. I doubt this ever sees the light of day, either. Maybe it will.

RIM has been filing patents "defensively" recently.

As such, the design within this application may never see the light of day. Or may be licensed to another manufacturer.

SureType kills it for me but I bet it's worth checking into for the SureType fans.

Seriously, if they switch from our traditional s over to these lame looking things, I just might have to switch back to using a Sidekick!
