This what I've been able to gather from all the information.

The BES's OS will need to be patched. What will need to be done will be determined by the OS - Windows2000/2003. Check out:

microsoft.com/windows/timezone/dst2007.mspx

BES uses CDO so there is a need to have Exchange System Manager running in order to install required CDO fix. See:
support.microsoft.com/?kbid=926666

Handhelds with 4.10.375, 4.1.0.377, and 4.1.0378 already have the update. v4.0 and older will need a patch. There is a option to use the handheld's web browser or to use the Software Configuration tool

My primary concern is that now that you are forced to update to Exchange 2003 SP2 to deal with DST, the "send as" issue is going to happen. I thought I read somewhere that BES 4.1 will be fully compatible with Sp2 or I guess I read wrong.

I've been confused by this. Isn't the time on the devices fed by the wireless provider? So wouldn't the time on Verizon phones be updated by the Verizon network?

What am I missing here?

I stand corrected. I did not read close enough and missed it. My apologies to GovBerry.

I wonder if there is any "side-effect" of the installing the patch.

I use the BIS 2.0 service through Verizon wireless with my 8703e. Has anyone actually downloaded the DST 2007 patch? I looked on BlackBerry for the patch but could not find it.

I have a 7130e also from Verizon. The Blackbeery site says to use the browser on your device to go to BlackBerry to download the patch. Once at that site you seem to get into an endless lop of information but I couldn't find any link to actually install the patch. I am running 4.1.0.268

That said, I have my 7130e set to get the time from the network so I don't see this as a problem.

Apparently the patch isn't released until February.

Which compounds the problem for large deployments. We only have one month to deploy the patch to 1000's of devices. Yeah! What fun.

From what I read on the BB site, the patch has more to do with scheduling events/to-do/etc. than changing the clock time. I'm sure the carriers will update their network clocks according to the 2007 DST schedule. Read the examples shown on the site for impact of not applying the patch.

No doubt. Atleast we have a solution, they wont get a patch. I guess they just have to leverage this and make it part of your argument to upgrade.

Exclamation RIM DST Update Release

Our RIM rep gave us an update today saying the DST patches will be available mid/late next week.

There is discussion about being able to push these out via the BES, does anyone know what BES versions have this capability? Can v4.0.3 do this?

Where can I find the steps? I can't find anything on this and our RIM rep keeps dodging this question!

Thanks...

Make a backup copy of store.exe before running the update. As long as store.exe is at version 6.5.7650.21 or lower and you won't have to deal with the security issues.

The security changes to the Exchange store will eventually have to be addressed, but for now we're just trying to dodge that bullet. The changes that Microsoft is requiring to accommodate that sec patch is very extensive and I'm not sure yet what we're going to even do. We have way to many delegates, or users with send as rights on shared mailboxes, and so it... it's going to be a mess.
