Default Newby questions re: spam & low ringtones...

Please Login to Remove!

Two questions please:
I need to know how to control spam on my 7290 - it is unbelievable! I do NOT want to use Gmail as I have complicated email system and it did not work well for me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also - I can hardly hear my ringtone - can I download louder one to my 7290?
Thanks so very much!

no expert on ringtones.....but is the spam coming to your blackberry email address or a different email address?

If its the blackberry email address, you can log into the BIS website on cingular ( and create filters on the site. If its from another email addie then maybe still create filters on the BIS website, but also see if you can up the spam protection within the email account on its own website (Yahoo, Hotmail, MSN, etc.).

First off, don't use your * address for anything other than forwarding. You really need to implement spam filtering somewhere along the chain before email hits BIS. How is your "complicated" email setup configured (and why isn't there spam filtering in there if it's that complex)?

Ringtones on the 7290 are mono MIDI. There's no volume in the ringtone itself. You're sure you have the volume set to max? I'd suggest switching on vibrate. You can't miss a vibrating 7290.
