Default Blackberry Syncing - Health Concern - 04-11-2005, 11:38 AM

As I sit here with my bberry 7290 in the cradle, I hear it syncing via the static going thru my desktop speakers which are about 2 feet away. I have also noticed that when my bb is syncing at home, I hear it updating thru static it generates on the radio or even the TV if it is anywhere in the same room with this equipment.

Is anyone concerned about what this is doing to us when this thing is hanging on our hip? Does anyone think about the long term affect on us?

Just some concerns. Not sure if they are valid or not.

All radio type devices emit radiation. There are published metrics about how much emitted radiation each BB sends out. No worse than many other phones (the exact numbers are in another similar thread).

Every GPRS device (and Nextels, for that matter) interfere with speakers, etc.

That always crosses my mind. As devices move up the spectrum, there is something called the harmonics of the center frequency which always crosses over the 2.4 GHz range. 2.4 GHz is also the reasonate frequency of water, which low and behold your body is mostly made up of. I'll let you draw your own conclusion.

Default Perspective helps... - 04-11-2005, 03:31 PM

I'd be far more concerned about the energy levels from the cheap old TV set that we may spend hours in front of, or the improper chemical treatment in the spa or pool that we share with countless other organisms, or the idiots that we share the road with, etc.

Now go hop in your car, drive to Blockbusters, rent a movie, and plop it into your spa's built-in DVD player. Drink some alcohol and jack the temperature up to 109 and forget your worries.

And don't get your Blackberry wet while you check your email during while the credits are rolling.

do keep in mind that there have NEVER been ANY tests to prove long-term health issues from the emiting of cellular signal. what you are hearing and seeing is simply interference within the radio signal spectrum. its harmless, as far as we know, and actually unexplained (i.e-it shouldn't be happening, per scientific theory). perhaps its the aliens.

teskew, will you make me a tinfoil hat, as well?
