Default Need to Play .WAV Files

Please Login to Remove!

Hi.

I am "in charge" of the Blackberries at my organization. We recently implemented a new phone system that automatically sends voicemails to our staff's email address.

Our employees who are using Blackberries, however, have no way to play the .wav attachments.

We are using Blackberry models 7250 (Handheld software is 4.0) on an Enterprise Server (v. 4.1).

Does anyone know on some software we can download that will play these .wav attachment files?

THANKS!

Jessi

Don't think it is possible on any BB other than the Pearl and maybe the soon to be released 8800.

those 7250's will not play wavs

Check this LINK to see which handhelds support which audio codecs.

As of now though there is no support for the ability to play wav files within emails. There will be support once handheld software 4.2 comes out from rim. (In beta stage right now) Even still, 8700 / 8100 / 8800 will be the only ones that it will work on.

Check this thread for updates on when the 4.2 OS will come out and other issues.

Also, There are a couple of third party apps out there that convert the wav files into basic text for you. I haven't looking into them too much though.

just got the 8800... and no it does not play .wav files. or maybe mine doesnt... anybody else having this problem?

I know the Pearl does and any device using the 4.2 OS should be able to view compressed .wav files. (I use Cisco Unity for voicemails at work)

Since you said @ work I'm guessing your on a BES. You have to have BES version 4.1.2 to play .wav files. Check with your ADMIN.

I am having the same problem (and, incidentally, am also using Cisco Unity for voicemails). I want to be able to listen to voicemails which are automatically emailed to me at work (through Cisco Unity) and at home (through Vonage). Both audio files are .wav.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

EDIT:
BTW, device is BB 8800; provider is Cingular; BES for work; BIS for home email; software version 4.2.1.72 (Platform 2.3.0.54).

Guys, have a look at Dynoplex Play All it plays WAV files on 7250 bbs as well as on 8100 and higher. Play All is a part of a just released MasterDoc suit. HEre's the link: http://www.dynoplex.com/masterdoc.shtml
