Unhappy Can't find Media Manager

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I have an 8700 and installed the Desktop Manager and Device Manager software that came on the CD - did everything that was noted i.e. inserted CD, followed directions, installed software.

However, I need to transfer files from my computer to the BB (pictures), and I read here that I should click on the MEDIA MANAGER. But I can't find this anywhere. I opened the Desktop Manager and the only 4 things I see there are:
- Backup / restore
- Intellisync
- Application Loader
- Redirector Settings (I'm on a BES btw)

Can someone help or explain how to get the Media Manager component of the software so I can transfer files?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums,
Media Manager is only available on v4.2 of the Desktop Manager. Additionally, you can't use Media Manager to transfer media files to the 8700. The device requires v4.2 of the handheld OS for this feature and currently is not available yet.

Thanks for the quick reply.

So my question in, how do I put pics, songs etc. on my BB 8703? Do I have to point it to URLs and download everything using a browser? Sounds a little too intense doesn't it? Not questioning you but trying to understand why this isnt possible on this fairly new model when te most basic Nokia and other cellphones allow xfers from the computer to the device.

Any advice?

Thanks.

Pictures can be emailed to yourself as attachments and saved that way, as well as downloaded off of websites. As far as ringtones, songs, etc, yes you have to dowload them using the browser.

Currently the BB Pearl is the only device which can transfer media files directly to/from the computer. When 4.2 becomes available for the 8700 this feature will be added to the 8700. Keep in mind that the 8700 does not have a media card slot so you are limited in memory anyway.

For more information on getting pictures, songs and ringtones to your 8700 please visit this section of the forums:
