Default Blackberry sync isnt as good as microsoft's

Please Login to Remove!

I recently shifted from windows mobile 5.0 onto blackberry. Its much easier and better than windows and BB does'nt crash at all like windows phones but the drawback is in syncing.
As long as ure syncing with only one computer (I have blackberry BIS) its fine but if u synce to 2 computers eg. home and office computers the its sync isnt 100% accurate.
Blackberry thinks its the same computer and doesnt update both computers if I edit an existing data field once its synced with computer. The result is that while blackberry is updated, there are bits of data that havent been updated on home or office computer (eg. add another number to an existing contact or mark a task as completed)
In windows mobile 5.0 it marked each computer as a seperate terminal (though u could sync emails with only one computer) and it knows which computer it is connected to and syncs with it.

Is there any way to have this type on syncing on blackberry as well? My company isnt on BES so I have to rely on manual syncing and my mobile service provider doesnt let me use web based 3rd party server services.

I synch my BB 8700 with 3 different computers and have no trouble at all. Everything works as it should.

The one thing I think Windows does better is the constant synch. When you update or ad an appointment or contact, the two devices automatically synch if they are connected. With the BB however, you have to run Intellisynch.

To sync my blackberry (BIS) with my computer, i use outloot 2007 and previously I used outlook 2002. The problem is the same in both outlooks. If I change a number or add another number in contacts, It will sync properly with the 1st computer I sync it with but it wont update it in 2nd computer.
Same is the case with status of tasks or changes in existing notes.
When it syncs, it counts number of contacts, tasks etc and if the number is same it doesnt check their details. I guess it presumes that its already synced the changes earlier.
Can u check with your setup that if u make a change in existing contact or task is it updated on all computers or just the 1st one u sync it with?

Thanks

I am using OUTLOOK 2003 on both machines.it picks up the changes on either machine and synchs the correct way.

It seems like there are issues with sync and Outlook 2007. Are you using 2007 on both PC's? That may be the source of your problem.

The BlackBerry handheld appears to make a poor replication hub.

Servers make the best replication hub.

Knowing this, perform the following:

Make sure your PIM data on your work machine is synchronized with your MS Exchange server before and after you sync your BlackBerry. Do the same with your home PC. Make sure you synchronize your home computer with your company's MS Exchange server before and after you synchronize your BlackBerry. That way you will hopefully not miss any updates.

If you cannot do that, switch to a notebook computer and just us this machine at work and home. Or, do the dog-and-pony show and convince your work to buy a BES server and CALs.
