Default Yahoo./Gmail - Routing through BES or not?

Please Login to Remove!

I currently have my yahoo mail and gmail coming to my blackberry. My company runs a BES server that processes my exchange though. this seems like a dumb question to me, but unless I answer it, I wont' know the answer. When you set up the blackberry online service to push Gmail and yahoo mail to your blackberry, does it send it DIRECTLY to you bberry (via Nextel, sprint, or whomever?) or does it send it through your BES server first? The obvious reason for this question is - is my yahoo and G mail going through my work servers to get to my blackberry?

Responses appreciated.
Thanks!

It's delivered via BIS. It doesn't go through your company's BES, but depending on their security settings they very likely can access it. So don't assume it's private.

just make sure your BES doesn't block out BIS....some do.

I'm not saying I "want" it to go through my company BES - I just want to see if my personal mail is going through my company server to get to my blackberry, or if it's Nextel or whomever, sending it directly to my BBerry and bypassing my work BES server.

BIS and BES are entirely distinct entities. A policy from the BES can prevent you from receiving from or replying through your BIS account but it can't monitor your messages.

Here's a really easy way to test your privacy.
1. Send an email to your Yahoo account.
2. Reply to it.
3. Check the received from address on the reply.
4. Still says Yahoo? Good.
