Default Password Setting for NON-bes

Please Login to Remove!

I'm not on a BES.
can i set the length of my password?
and set how long it asks me to change the password etc?

i set my password to 4 characters like a week or two ago.
and today it asked me to change!, and when i put in another 4 character code, it says it's too short. :(

I just want a simple pass, and I don't want to change it (ever if possible).

please advise..

Did you purchase/obtain this phone somewhere other than an authorized dealer? Were you ever on a BES? It has a security policy enabled on it. This would have, at some point, been pushed down by a BES.

Go to Options then Settings then General Settings. Scroll down to the bottom and see if it has 'IT Policy Name' and 'Default' or something else next to it. I'm very curious, as there are no standard settings to require a new password every 'x' days on these devices, without a policy being set.

Secure GC Enabled

edit:
i tried turning off Password, and battery pull.
and turning back on passport enable.
now i Don't see the "Secure GC Enabled"

but it's still telling me 4 characters for a password is too short.
