Default Backup OTA-installed apps

Please Login to Remove!

I am aware that the backup function in Blackberry Desktop is able to backup the data associated with installed 3rd-party apps. However, I have a need to back up the actual applications themselves - the ones that were installed OTA, where I do not have them stored on my hard drive for reinstallation. The reason for this is that there are some apps on my device that were purchased from a service where they limit you to 3 downloads maximum, after which you must purchase the application again.

What happens if I switch to a new device? Or if I need to wipe my BB a few times due to data corruption? Forcing me to pay for an application multiple times is unnecessary. If the developer can't be bothered to provide a package that I can install from my computer, I should at least have the option to archive it in the event of a mishap.

Any ideas?
