Verizon BB Plan vs Sprint BB Plan - NEWBIE I currently have Verizon Wireless for voice only cell access. I'm looking to get a BlackBerry then I can connect to my work server and personal email (I apologize I'm a newbie regarding BBs). Of course I've been told to go with an unlimited data plan so who should I go with? Verizon - BB Unlimited Data Plan - $44.99 / month - Verizon said if I used my BB as a wireless modem with my laptop I would have to pay an additional $15 / month and seperate SMS text messaging fees. Spring - BB Unlimited Data Plan - $39.99 / month- I was told by Sprint you can use the BB as a wireless modem connected to a laptop (and thats included in the data plan) in addition it includes unlimited SMS txt messaging. In result, doesn't it make more sense to go with Sprint since its $5 cheaper a month and I can use the BB as a wireless modem and it includes unlimited SMS txt messaging? Thanks for everyone help in advance! |
First, welcome to the Forum Second....it's all about the Network....choose the provider that works best in your area...the sprint option may be cheaper, but if it doesn't work in the places you need it, you get my point....if Sprint works well in your area and the places you need it too, then jump on it.... just my .02 -emb |
Are TMob and Cingular available in your area? |
Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105) Like bremere said, it depends upon who has the better coverage in your area. TMO is the best priced BB plan around, but VZW has better coverage in my area. I went with VZW after being with TMO for 5 years. Had a lot of dropped coverage at inoportune times. Have had no such problems since going to VZW. |
Wirelessly posted (NakedBerry: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D052; Blazer/4.5) 16;320x320) The Sprint Blackberry Data Plan does not include SMS. You can add it to a Blackberry Plan for five dollars (unlimited). |
Is your company going to pay for the BB plan? If so, maybe they have a discount in place with one of the the carriers. |
Thanks! Well it seems like Verizon has the best service in my area - and I think I'm going to stick with them since everyone I know has Verizon - in calling helps soften the bill. My company does have data plan discounts - I'm looking into all that. Unfortunately, I don't think they're going to pay for it since I'm still an associate engineer. I just think having my email at my finger tips will help me get a jump start on my day :-). I really appreciate everyone's help! Now I just need to figure out if I wait out for the Verizon GSM / CDMA hybrid Blackberry that they're expecting to be released in Q2 this year. Hopefully it'll be like the 8800 - if not I guess I'll have to settle with the 8703. Anything I should keep in mind when buying my BlackBerry? Thanks! |
