Address Book reconciliation PROBLEM I own a Verizon BlackBerry 8703e. I went to the OPTIONS in my Address Book and the option to turn "Wireless Activation" on or off is GONE! Huh? Anyone know how to get that option back? (Right now it appears it is set to "off" since nothing reconciles without plugging it in) Thanks |
Are you on a BES? |
Address book yes, I am set up on my corporate server... |
Have you connected to a computer with DM? You might have fouled up the EA. You'll need IT's help. |
yes, I have the DM software on my PC.... I did a handheld WIPE, and then an "Enterprise Activation".... Everything loads up, but ADDRESS BOOKS just says "Initializing" When I manually add my address book (over 2,400 contacts) it loads, but I still do not get the option anymore for Wireless Reconciliation! IF I messed around with CATEGORIES, would that screw something up? |
I've seen this happen before. We had to wipe the device and then resynchronize with the BES. However we are having an issue where a user has contacts in their GroupWise address book and some of those address have mysteriously vanished from the BlackBerry. BES is 4.1.1 with GW as 6.7. |
not to sound like a moron, but how do I "resynchronize with the BES"? I wiped the handheld and did a wired EA and now it is done, except for the fact that it says "Synchronizing Service Desktop" and has for almost an hour! I also delted TWO service books---CMIME and SYNCH... |
Running the Enterprise Activation is the resynchronization. As for the issue of the device being "stuck" on the synchronizing desktop services have you tried performing a soft reset? This is holding down the ALT+CAP+DEL keys at the same time. |
Roco, Whenever we have problems like this, we always start from a clean slate. 1) Have IT remove you from BES. 2) Wipe the handheld. 3) Probably not needed, but pull the batt for ~ 30 seconds & reinsert. 4) Have IT add you back to BES. 5) Reactivate, making sure not to mess with it during the activation. Using Desktop Manager should not cause any problems. We have users who use it and users who don't, both with no issues. Sounds like something got screwed up during activation... |
