Default downloading software on BB website

Please Login to Remove!

i have 4.1 on my BB and 4.0 on my fiance's BB. also, i was looking at blackberrycool.com and saw a theme creator that needed 4.1 to be used. how complicated is it to upgrade the version of software on a BB? if there is the 4.2 version(i saw on blackberry's web site) why wouldnt i want to just go ahead and download that and have it on both our devices? im curious as to why there are so many versions for download and how difficult is it to use?
basically someone could just tell me why so many versions on blackberrys web site and what they do better than the others, and whats on your BB

This link will provide you with the latest OS for each device. Each type of device has it's own software versions. That's why there are so many. Also, some devices are GSM like TMo and Cingular and other devices are CDMA like Verizon, etc. There are many types of BB's out there. That's why there are so many OS versions. 4.2 is only available on the 8100 Pearl and the 8800.

Also some older models cannot handle 4.1. and 4.2 is only available for the pearl and the 8800 right now. 4.1 is available for 32mb and most 64mb devices (except the 8800 and pearl).

What models and carriers are the handhelds?
