Default blackberry and hotmail forwarding question...

Please Login to Remove!

Hi blackberry people
I am new to the berryland but loving it so far. This is my situation. I have a data plan from rogers canada, about 1 mega byte per month. This is fairly small. I have set up my hotmail account so that it forwards mail from my inbox to my blackberry account....which brings me to my question...
if I only check the title of the email on the blackberry screen, by that I mean I do not double click on the message, just viewing the title - would I still have to pay for the full size of the email?...
I figure I can just check the title, and then use my pc to read the full message from hotmail itself....
can you guys let me know? thanks a million.

No. The BlackBerry only downloads 2k of each email every time it receives one. If the message is 100k and you don't open it, it will only download the first 2k of it. If you open it, and read the whole thing, then yes, you get dinged for 100k of download.

And why would anyone want a 1mb data plan? That's only 512 unread messages, and that don't include overhead. If you use the browser or any other app which requires data such as google maps or googletalk, that will be used up in no time, and then you will see a huge bill from Rogers.

thanks a lot moleman, yeah I guess I should upgrade my plan, I figured I would use the lowest plan and test it for a month to see if I exceed it. Thanks once again for replying so fast.

Thumbs up

No problem. The scam artists at rogers will take every chance to screw you out of money. my bb is only on rogers because the company pays for it. I gave up on them for my personal cell years ago because their coverage sucked when i went back home.
