Newbie in the forum....

I have a Blackberry 7510 that continually (at least daily) has been freezing and powering itself off.

When it powers itself off, I have to remove the battery and leave it out for at least 5 minutes or it will not power back up. It flashes the tiny red light on the top of the unit once, then 3 times fast when this occurs.

I did manage to catch an error that looked like it said "Sleep - DSP did not power off" and had a Reset bar in the middle of the screen.

Anyone have any ideas? If I don't get this fixed soon, I'm going to use it as a doorstop and get a phone that works.

I'm guessing that no one else has had this problem since i've had no replies.

Any guesses as to what could be the cause? Could a defective battery cause this?

I've also recently found (for the 2nd time) that the charging port on my 7510 is bad. I use only the Blackberry specific tools to charge it and to sync it, and wonder if anyone else has found this to be an issue. I had to invest in an external charger that you can stick the battery in to be able to continue to use the 7510, and now can not sync it to my laptop.

Well since you cant use the port to sync or charge I have no clue what to tell you. Maybe a Nextel service center.

I've taken phones to certain nextel stores, and they take your old phone and overnight you a replacement.

Sounds like a bad blackberry. Shoot for a replacement.
