Default Switching Blackberry Usernames?

Please Login to Remove!

Long story short.

I left my Verizon 8703e for a Cingular 8800 (it's okay), so I sold my 8703e on craigslist.

That person already had a Verizon Motorola Q, and is now having trouble removing my username from the 8703e.

I did a "Wipe Handheld" but some reason, the account shows my username at the bottom without hte ability to change it.

I called Verizon Tech Support, and they said that I have to delete the whole account and create a new one for the new owner.

Is that the right procedure? Or is there a better way to handle this username change?

What do you mean by "user name"?

If you are talking about the BIS account, the answer is yes, or at least partially. You have to go in and close your BIS account and release the IMEI and PIN. Once that is done, the new owner can set up his/her account in BIS. You don't have to set up their account.

Always delete (call your carrier) or transfer your BIS account if you're selling a Blackberry that you have been using. Wiping the handheld will not permanently remove BIS email from a Blackberry. When the BB reregisters on the network and has the service books pushed back to it, delivery of your email to that BB will resume...

No need to set up a new BIS account for the buyer -- that's their responsibility.
