Here’s an example of something one would think should be a breeze. Of course, where BBs are concerned, nothing is necessarily simple, and I’m getting nowhere on figuring out how to do it.

We had a bit of an “oops,” where all the user’s Exchange e-mail messages departed for a better place. Gone. Toast. They are no more. Not even in Deleted Items. And, of course his Exchange database lives on our only Exchange server that hasn’t had an Exchange Backup agent added, so there’s no way to do just a mailbox restore. He does, however, have the last 4,000 or so messages on his Blackberry. Does anyone have a clue on how to move them back to Exchange/Outlook? FYI, we are running BES for Exchange, and all software is at level 3.6.

Oh, and to head off the obvious answer . . . no, we don’t really want to forward them one at a time. Look again at that number of messages!

Try changing them all to marked unread maybe? never tried it but it's worth a shot

With groupwise, you can file the messages in your cabinet folders. Maybe something similar works for exchange.

Well, that sounds like the right track. And, in fact, I was able to make it work from Outlook to the handheld. Putting messages into another folder on the handheld and synchronizing doesn't seem to move them from the handheld back up to Outlook. Or, maybe I'm just doing something wrong. By the way, I've tried it with both the Exchange and off-line (.pst) folders; all with Intellisync. Hmmmm . . .
