Default Gmail pushing sent messages to BlackBerry

Please Login to Remove!

I have my Gmail account synched to my BB and keep getting any e-mail I send from my Gmail account pushed to my handheld. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening? It only happens with the Gmail account (I have two other e-mail accounts set up).

Also, there have been two times now where all of a sudden for no reason every e-mail I have on my Gmail account gets re-pushed to my BB. This is frustrating because it takes about an hour to complete and for that hour my BB is constantly going off. Invariably, it eventually fills up my BB Web Client and stops, but I'd rather it not happen at all.

Any ideas would be helpful...

Are you getting your Gmail through POP (via the BWC), through forwarding, or through "filtered forwarding?" Because I bcc my BWC sent mail to my Gmail account, I set up a Gmail filter that forwards only those messages that are not "from" my BWC address. You may already know this, but for anyone who doesn't, you set up filtered forwarding by disabling the forwarding in the "Forwarding and POP" menu, and by creating a filter that forwards messages meeting certain criteria to your blackberry.net address.

With respect to occasionally having your entire Gmail account pushed to your BB, I would suspect that's a POP issue. Hopefully, that could be avoided by forwarding your mail instead, or by tinkering with the POP settings.

I am getting my gmail to my bb from the POP server. And the issue of receiving sent gmail on my bb occurs even when the message is sent directly from the gmail account. Any ideas?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7520/4.0.0 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3 UP.Link/5.1.2.12)

I have the very issue with gmail. I e-mailed gmail tech support about this. I plan to try the filtering thingy.

rta53 - I look forward to hearing what you find from gmail tech support. I wonder if they will be able to provide answers to this type of problem being that it probably does not fall under their jurisdiction from their perspective. If you come up with any solutions, please let me know. I will do the same.

i have heard a few issues with gmail pop...
youre probably better off using the forwarding thats built in to gmail...
that is, forward your gmail to your BWC account

There is an issue with gmail if you're using the POP access. Whenever you send out a message, it will show up the next time that POP mail is downloaded. Easiest way I found to take care of this was to just setup a filter in the BWC, so that anything that came from my own email address (ie messages that I send out) is automatically sent to the trash folder and never pushed out to my BB. Works like a charm.

Thanks for the feedback, mcapiro. What I did was to set my gmail account to forward any new e-mails to my BWC account. That also took care of the issue. Seems like both solutions are feasible and work the same.

has anyone noticed a considerable time lag in receiving emails from gmail? I finally took gmail off my bwc because it took near 10-15 mins for the email to arrive. my bwc address sends and receives instantaniously.

I have not noticed that happening to me, but to be honest I have not checked, either.

I do agree with above respondants that the best way to configure gmail for use with the BB is to use the forward feature. I've tried direct configuration, using the filter process to disallow messages sent from my gmail address to be pushed, and the gmail forward feature and have found that having the gmail messages forwarded to my BWC email address works the best. Thanks to all who've helped me with this issue!!

I have this issue as well, except, I don't really use my gmail for much. Twice now, for no apparent reason gmail has dumped every message in my box to my bb. It's like 200 messages when it happens. Really annoying. I just decided to delete gmail from BWC. I don't need it THAT much. What a PITA.

I'm on webclient and use Gmail forwarding. I do not know what teh average lag time of emails are but there was one time where I was demonstrating teh PUSH technology to my boss. I sent an email to my gmail account twice and it didn't show up until the following day. my boss wasn't very impressed with that but I still managed to influence her to use the 7520 anyway.

I just posted in the 7100 forum, I'm having the same problem, but it seems to be mail to other non-gmail accounts as well for me (though mostly gmail)

I just got the second re-sent batch just now

I've gotten the mailbox dump as well ... most annoying. I can't tell if it's Gmail or BB ... and getting into the BB web client interface from the handset seems to be inconsistent. Argh.

Just to reiterate an above point, I switched from having the BB web client push Gmail to my BB and went with the strategy of having Gmail forward all new mail to the BB email address (when you set up the web client). I have since had no problems like I was, I recommend this technique for all having problems I originally described.
