Greetings from Canada, forum'ers!

First and foremost: I'm a BlackBerry newbie of the highest order. While I'm a serious geek, and own more gadgets than the average bear, I've been so busy with life in general that I haven't had any chance to investigate the wonder that is Blackberry before my boss' old 7750 fell into my lap today. Thus, please forgive my newbieness.

I did a search, but couldn't find anything regarding my specific trouble. Here goes:

So, y'know how you can hold 1/W to check your voicemail?
Y'know how you can edit the number in Phone > Menu > Options > Voicemail?
Y'know how W is assigned as simply "Voicemail" in Phone > Menu > Edit Speed Dial List?

I kinda sorta accidentally deleted that last one (the "Voicemail" Speed Dial), and can't get it back.

Now, when I try to hold 1/W to check my voicemail, my BB asks me if I'd like to assign a Speed Dial to the W key, but I can't choose "Voicemail" — I only have already-entered options from my Address Book.

Without making "Voicemail" an Address Book entry of its own as a workaround, is there any way for me to reinstate the W key as my Voicemail checker?

How 'bout choosing "use once" and entering the voicemail # that way instead of making an address book entry?

I made the same mistake someone on my 7290 and I found that if you put your own phone number in the "use once" field it will call the correct voicemail number AND have the text note that you are calling voicemail.

I originally did it the way that Teresa suggested, but was annoyed that it wouldn't put the text "Voicemail".... what can I say, I'm picky

My problem is a little different. When I speed dial voicemail, the BB sends my password twice, the send of which are being looked at as menu inputs! If I go to Phone....Options....Voicemail to try to re-enter the information to see if that will alleviate the situation (basically remove the "additional numbers"), it lets me delete them and Save, but when I go right back in the numbers have reappeared! I have also used the "Clear filed" command on the menu, and Saved and the numbers reappear. Any hints, tips or suggestions?

PhilMax, I'm afraid I've got newbie-itis, so as much as I'd love to speculate on what might help with your specific trouble (all that I would've tried has already been listed, except for possibly deleting both the Voicemail number AND the additional numbers, then saving and trying it), it'd probably just cause your Blackberry to a splode. One thing that can be tried when the speed dial assignment is empty is to remove the battery for 30 seconds. Upon reboot it should be there if it's provisioned on the SIM.

You should also just get your carriers (location) number for VM....I wouldn't mess with actually calling myself and waiting for my outgoing message to come on.
