Heres the deal, I will be making 2 trips to St Petersburg Russia in the next month. What is the best thing to do? Rent a BB? Try the unlock, sim card thing? My BB is the 7130e with Verizon service.

Get roaming service enabled on your device and away you go. I think you'll struggle to find a local BB enabled sim in what is apparently 2x shortish trips

Make sure you can bill someone else for the roaming costs however..

Verizon 7130e CDMA blackberry will not work in Europe.

If you plan frequent travels overseas consider switching to GSM blackberry from T-Mobile or Cingular.

Since unlocking is not the answer (Verizon CDMA) and since you are only going there twice, my suggestion would be to try to rent a phone for use there.

In any big russian city you can buy mobil phone with or without SIM card at each corner. In Moscow / St. Petersburg this is not more than 300-400 feet from point to point.
Prices: $5-$10 for SIM card WITH some airtime (the link offer it for $30). Phones: ebay.com prices + ~%15-%30. Starting prices ~from $40. Price to calls: $0.05 for SMS (the link offer it for $0.49 - very funny). Calls to US: ~$0.35 (the link offer it for $0.69)
