AutoText batch edit

I did some search but couldn't find answer. I have a 8700C and I want to add a huge list to autoText. Add one by one will be very time consuming and error prone. Is there a way that I can export current autotext list to text format, add my own list using text editor and then import them back? I would same me lots of time.

Thanks!!

The short answer is no, so grab a beer, turn on the tube, sit back and relax and just do it.

You could save your thumbs by typing the entries into an email and sending them to yourself (or into Notes in Outlook if you sync), and then Copy (Switch App) Paste. (You switch apps by holding down the [Alt] and hitting [Esc] - highlight the app you want and hit [Enter].)

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I think once you have it set up you should be able to do a selective backup for future use...

There is a possible way, but after finishing your beer from the previous suggestion you could look at this. This isn't a end-all solution, but it might be worth it to investigate.

The backup format (*.ipd) is actually a spec (and a patent!) - Inter@ctive Pager (an old RIM device, the first maybe?). There are people who have deconstructed it in various ways, for example:

I was looking into this recently, and I found some forum in Japanese that had a guy writing a complete IPD editor in .NET 2.0 framework; I'm afraid I can't find the site though to help you out, but it's out there. Screenshots & such were about all I could read on the site, it's all in kanji. :)

So, it would be possible to do an Advanced backup and only select the AutoText, then open that file and edit it. The work now comes in you'd need a programmer to help you out with all the IPD mumbo jumbo; if it's worth it to your company then maybe even hire one of the nerds from BBF.

Just some FYI, it's an interesting project.

I got the IPD editor from a Chinese forum and it works. However still I have to edit one by one. I don't seem to find a way to import existing list :-(

I have thousands to import :-(
